About this trip

BOURG'S Expedition: A 10-Day Overlanding Journey

Embark on an immersive 10-day overlanding expedition through Baja California, traveling from San Diego deep into the heart of the peninsula and back again. This fully guided, all-inclusive journey is designed to balance meaningful adventure with intentional downtime, covering remote Pacific coastline, central desert corridors, and the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Over ten days, you will experience Baja at its natural pace. Roughly four days involve longer driving stretches of five or more hours, allowing us to reach truly remote locations. The remaining days are intentionally slower, centered around beach living, boat-based adventures, and time to simply be present in remarkable places.

This trip is about range and contrast. Wild Pacific beaches. Desert islands. Calm turquoise water. Campfires, fresh food, and unhurried sunsets.

Adventure Highlights

Scenic Exploration
Travel along vast stretches of the Pacific coast, cross the peninsula through iconic desert regions like Valle de los Cirios, and experience both sides of Baja from volcanic shorelines to the Sea of Cortez.

Remote Beach Living
Spend multiple nights camped directly on the sand in remote Baja locations, with fires every night, hot showers, bathrooms, and thoughtfully prepared meals that elevate the camping experience without losing its soul.

Off-Road Travel
Drive beginner-to-intermediate off-road routes designed to be engaging without being intimidating. Long dirt days are balanced with slower coastal stretches and beach driving.

Boating Adventures on Two Oceans
Enjoy chartered boat days on both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. Explore desert islands, coastal waters, and marine-rich environments inaccessible by land.

Whale Shark Encounter
Spend two nights on the Sea of Cortez in an air-conditioned beachfront hotel, offering the opportunity to swim with whale sharks, the largest fish in the ocean, during peak summer season.

Culinary Experience
All meals are prepared fresh daily by our in-house camp chef, featuring local ingredients and regional Baja flavors. Over several days, meals are paired with Baja wines, allowing you to not only see and smell this peninsula, but truly taste it.

Unstructured Time Done Right
Four full days are dedicated to slowing down. Expect fishing from shore, long walks along empty beaches, shell hunting, watching tides rise and fall, and sunsets that reset your internal clock.

From Drive Days to Down Days

This journey intentionally alternates effort and ease. Some days are about covering ground and earning the destination. Others are about staying put and letting Baja do the work. Two hotel nights in the middle of the trip provide a reset before returning to remote beach camps on the Pacific for the final stretch north.

Hassle-Free and Fully Supported

From border crossings to daily logistics, vehicle guidance, camps, meals, and activities, our team handles every detail. You focus on the experience. We take care of the rest.
