Exploring the Sierra de San Francisco & the Cueva Pintada
Arrive in the Sierra de San Francisco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its remarkable cave paintings.

Prepare for a challenging descent into the canyon—this is an adventurous trek or mule ride covering steep, rocky terrain. The journey to Cueva Pintada is demanding but rewarding, offering breathtaking views and a true backcountry experience.

All gear, food, and drinks for this portion of the journey will be packed in and carried by mules, ensuring a comfortable and well-supported experience.

Explore Cueva Pintada and surrounding cave art sites, where massive murals depict ancient human figures, animals, and symbols—some dating back over 7,000 years.

Our expert guides will provide insight into the history and significance of these paintings, created by the Cochimi people.

Camp in the canyon with all necessary gear provided, immersing in the magic of this remote and sacred landscape.

The Journey Home
Begin our return north, retracing our path through Baja’s diverse landscapes with fresh perspectives and memories.

Camp at breathtaking locations along the way, reflecting on the journey and sharing stories around the fire.

Our final night will be spent at Native Residence in Puerto Nuevo, where we’ll enjoy a private chef-prepared meal, celebrating the adventure in comfort and style.

The next morning, we make our final drive back to the border, concluding an extraordinary expedition.

Day 1-2

Southbound Adventure

We had a spectacular time with Legends Overlanding. Nathan’s knowledge of the area was superb. Uni’s, Ian’s and Manuel’s cooking and presentation was 5-star restaurant-level quality. Our evenings were filled with an abundance of quality calories, inclusive of the liquid varieties! Certainly well above any field cooking we experienced previously. The camp locations were outstanding. The excursions (kayaking, wineries, Overlanding, Hearst Castle) were all significant memory-makers! Without hesitation, we would recommend Legends for the 805 and most certainly, any Baja adventures.
